11 Months

Yes, my baby is 11 months. I am already planning his first birthday party. It has all gone by so fast. He has four teeth, but you can only see the bottom two in this picture. He is always on the go. He has not taken any steps by himself, but will cruise around things.
He got an early birthday present from Mamaw and Papa. It is a toy that you stand up and push. He loves all the little gadgets on the front. I have gotten him to pull up and hold on to the handle, but he has not made any steps yet.

This toy came with some blocks. Mitchell thinks these are the greatest, and they fit in his mouth too.

March Madness

Well, like always I am a little behind in blogging. Last week was spring break. Really things were not that different around our house. But we did get to see Chad more often. He did not teach any classes, but he had to write two papers, grade mid-terms, and do some tours at OU. We did manage to squeeze in some family time. One day we went to Mazzio's for lunch. Mitchell just loves peaches. I got him some off the salad bar and put them on a plate. He went at them with both hands. He loved it. I am not sure how many peaches he ended up eating and how many pieces ended up on the floor. The weather last week was just beautiful, at least the beginning of the week. On another day we took Mitchell to the park. We put him in the swings, and you can see by his expression that he was not sure about it. He loves his swing at home, but I guess that this was a little different.
I love his little expressions. When he is exposed to something different, he just has to take it all in. I could not get him to smile.

I think that this is a great picture of his hair as the wind is blowing it. It was nice outside but a little windy. I guess that is what you always get in OK.

Mitchell even went down the side. Still that same confused look.

It has been March Madness in our house. Mitchell found this basketball the other day and has been glued to it. That is until he dropped it behind the dresser. Daddy needs to get it out for him. The basketball is really a dog toy, but don't tell Mitchell that. We went to Chad's brother's house to celebrate his birthday and watch the OU basketball game last Saturday. Go Sooners! They are doing really well.

March Madness really takes it out of a baby!

Robots!

I am very, very behind in posting this, but I did not want to pass up sharing this. For the past few months Chad has been a mentor at a local high school. He has been working with a robotics class. They have been building a robot to compete against other high schools in the state. This has turned out to be quite a project for Chad. He has put a lot of time into this. He had to spend several evenings and every Saturday for about a month working on this. It is kind of apart of his job, but it is more of a volunteer opportunity. The high school kids help build the robot, but they get a lot of help on the technical issues. That is where Chad comes in. He worked with two guys from Dell to do all the computer engineering. When I first head about this I pictured a small robot that you get from the toy store. Boy was I wrong. As you can see from the pictures, the robots are massive.
The competition is like a game. They put several robots in a ring, and they try to get balls into the other robot's trailer. The one who gets the most in the other trailers is the winner. Then the winners of the matches play each other. In the end, the one that wins the most is the final winner. I am proud to say that Chad's team came in second. Then they were able to go to a regional competition in Texas and got second again. This was very amazing, and Chad was very proud.

He got a medal for coming in second. Mitchell really liked it.

Of course Daddy shared his medal with Mitchell. He loved it!

Ten Months and Standing

Mitchell is now ten months. It is hard for me to believe. He loves to stand now! He pulls up on everything and just stands. He has been taking a few steps too, as he holds on to things. But it is surprising that he can just stand next to the couch or coffee table and stay for the longest time. I know walking is coming very soon. Chad was an early walker, and I walked just after I turned one. He probably will be like his daddy. As I write this, I am very tired. I took Mitchell to the doctor today and found out that he has an ear infection in both ears. It started on Wednesday with a runny nose. Now he still has the runny nose and a bad cough. Wednesday night was really rough. He would not stop crying and holding him did not even work. Last night he did better. I am hoping now that he has some medicine that things will get better. February has just been a sick month for us in the Davis household.
Mitchell does have four teeth now. I know it is hard to see all of them in this picture.

He is usually a very happy boy!

He loves to play with his toys.

Exciting Events in our Church

This past weekend Chad and I got to do some exciting things with our church. Our church has just built a new worship center. Our first Sunday in the new building was on Feb. 15th. It was a great time to praise God for what he has done and blessed us with. I did not get any pictures on that day because I was in the choir during the whole service. I wish that I had given the camera to Chad, but I did not think of it. This last week our church had people sign up to read through the Bible in the new worship center. They had hourly sign-ups, and Chad and I were able to go on Friday afternoon. We each took turns reading during our hour. We read part of John and the beginning of Acts. I read about the crucifixion of Jesus. It was a neat experience. We had Mitchell with us too. So, we also had to keep him entertained.
This is Chad reading. The pictures turned out kind of dark because they did not have very many lights on.

I know this is dark, but this is part of the stage and the chairs are where the choir sits. We also have two big screens on the walls.

This is one side of the sanctuary. You can see that we do not have pews anymore. It does not really have a balcony. It just goes up like stadium seating.

This is out in the foyer. It is a little coffee bar area.

This is one of two seating areas that you see when you first walk in the doors.

This is the other seating area that is identical to the other one. I know that I could not capture all of the beauty, but we had some ladies from our church decorate and it just looks great. I wish they could come and decorate my house.

This is the beautiful stain glass window that you can see from the front and also from inside.

This is one of many little seating areas. You can't see it, but behind this area is the new choir room.

Somebody painted different scriptures on the wall. This is one of them. I had to take a picture of it because it is my favorite verse. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Friday night Chad and I attended a Marriage Banquet at church. We had Mexican food, and then all the couples went into our new sanctuary to renewed our vows. We all just lined up next to the stage and said the vows together. It was the first "marriage ceremony" in our new church. I was so excited to be apart of this. Chad and I joined Emmaus Baptist Church four years ago. I have always grown up in a big church. When we went to this church it was kind of in the middle, not really small but not really big. This Sunday when we were walking out of the service, Chad said that he felt like we went to a big church again. It is still not as big as the church that I grew up in, but it definitely seems bigger. To top off our weekend, our Sunday School class had a retreat on Saturday. We have gone away to a camp site in the past, but now to many of us have kids. So, we had it at the church. Chad and I got to go to part of it. It was about marriage, and we heard some great speakers. I am so thankful for our church family. I also love my husband very much!!!!

Valentine

My Little Valentine

Yes, he is standing up in our recliner. I was close by to catch him.

He had fun with this fake rose.

This is nice. But where is the chocolate?

I can just taste it now.
