Snow Days

This is Mitchell inside before we went outside. You can see that he is smiling and seems to be very happy. In the other pictures you can see that he really does not have a smile on his face. I don't know if it was the cold or just the new experience that got him mesmerized. I debated on whether to take him outside. We did get some snow, but with the ice-sleet mixture it was very hard. But in the end I decided that he had to see his first snow.
He is probably thinking, Why is my bottom so cold?

What is all of this white stuff, and what does mommy have in her hand?

Chad did not have to teach all week. He was very lucky and we enjoyed having him home.

Ice!!!

This should really say, "Let it ice." That seems to be what we get in Okla. I wish we could get a pretty snow. We have not had any this winter. All the schools are going to be out tomorrow. Chad got to come home early today. Mondays are his long days because he teaches a night class. I was glad that they canceled it. It will be nice to just stay in tomorrow and have a day together.
I decided to join Facebook. If you are reading this and I have not added you to my friend list, let me know. I don't really know what I am doing, but I think that I already have 3o friends. I did not realize how many people have a page. I really did not need to add anything to my life, but it is neat to see some people that I went to high school or college with that I never talk to. I do have to say that I really enjoy blogging more! I will keep you updated with our crazy weather.

Nine Months

Mitchell wanted to let you know that he is now nine months old. He thinks that he is so big because he has some new moves.
Here is one of his new moves. He likes to get up on his knees. A few times he has moved and actually gone down to do the splits. Is he going to be a gymnast?

He loves this little Pooh Bear that he got for Christmas.

He is pulling up on everything. Sometimes he even stands, but no walking yet. This does not matter because he has mastered crawling. You can see that I have put up a gate from the living room to the kitchen. If this gate is not up, he his constantly going in the kitchen.

He also loves to pull up on the coffee table and get mom's magazines. Naughty boy!!!

But he stops to pray for forgiveness for all of his naughtiness!

Eight, Close to Nine Months

Mitchell turned eight months on December 23rd. I usually post a few pictures each month, but with Christmas it kind of got overlooked. These are a few pictures of him around that time, but now it is almost time for his nine months pictures. He is doing so much now. I was a little worried about him being behind, but in the last few weeks he has started doing so much. For about two months he was crawling backwards. He would scoot around the floor, but he just could not figure out how to go forward. For Christmas I got him some plastic balls. He loved them, but whenever he touched them they would go rolling forward. Then it just somehow clicked, and he started going forward. Now he is crawling forward all over the place. He is doing it so much that I had to go buy a baby gate. I really don't know if the balls taught him to go forward or if he was just ready to go in that direction. He is also talking more now too. I would like to think that he is saying mama, but it kind of sounds like mamamama. I know he is going in the right direction. At least I know he can say his m's. Also he is sitting up now. It has taken him a long time to do this. He is just so active. Why would he just want to sit and play? He still does not sit for very long because he loves to be on his tummy. I will have to get a picture of him sitting up. It is so cute.

Merry Christmas

We had a great Christmas! I was not sure how it was going to be when Mitchell came down with a cold the weekend before Christmas. He had a cough and a little congestion. I ended up just calling the doctor because I did not know if he could take any medication. The doctor told me to give him Zyrtec before he went to bed at night. We found out that the medication made him very hyper, as we watched him play till midnight. If it is suppose to make children sleepy, it does not work with Mitchell. We ended up giving it to him the next few nights, but earlier in the evening. He got better by Christmas, but was kind of tired.
We spent Christmas Eve with my mom, and then went to Chad's parents on Christmas day. On Christmas Eve we went to my mom's church. This is a tradition that I did growing up. It was a big deal. They now have two services, one at 6:00 pm and the other at 11:00 pm. When I was younger we went to the 11:00 service, but now we go to the 6:00. The pastor always has the children come down to the front, and he reads the Christmas story, or a storybook about the birth of Jesus. This year I took Mitchell down front (even babies go). He was so good and just sat in my lap. The baby girl next to us kept screaming. Then they gave an ornament to all of the kids (us too). Of course my mom had to show Mitchell off after the service. We then went back to my mom's house and opened presents. Chad and I usually open our presents to each other at my mom's, but this year we each just took one present to open. We wanted to save our presents and our presents to Mitchell to open on Christmas morning. We also had a wonderful meal too before we went to the Candle Light service.
We actually woke Mitchell up on Christmas morning. Because he had been sick, he was not sleeping well. I think that he was actually close to waking up anyways. He does look a little tired in the pictures though. Mitchell was more into the bows than the actual presents this year. I don't know how many pictures we got of him with a bow in his mouth.
Chad always trys to surprise me with my gifts. This year I really did not want anything in particular so he had a hard time, but he came through. On Tuesday the doorbell rang, and I found a box of roses on my doorstep. That was a complete surprise because I have never gotten roses for Christmas. Then he gave me a box with a hat (kind of), and it said on a piece of paper in the box to put it over my eyes. I did this and when I took it off he had set up a digital picture frame in our living room. It already had pictures of Mitchell on it. It is nice, but I still don't know how to work it.
Moving on .... we went to Chad's parents and opened presents there. I do have to say that it is a little crazy with a baby and opening presents. We had to help Mitchell open up his presents and our own plus get video and pictures of everything too. Mitchell got tons of clothes and toys. His uncle Todd and aunt Audrey also got him a big boy car seat. He just has to gain about three to four more pounds to use it. We then had a later Christmas lunch, and my mom came over for that. It is nice that Chad's parents always invite my mom over. I don't think I could bear leaving her by herself on Christmas day.
We also had Christmas with Chad's grandmas. One was the Saturday before Christams and the other was the Saturday after.
I was exhausted after everything, but it was great to have Mitchell and set new traditions with him. Even though we get wrapped up with presents, family, and traditions it is important to remember the best gift ever. That gift is Jesus Christ. He came as a little baby just to be a sacrifice for our sins. I started thinking about silly things two weeks ago when we were in church. Our pastor was preaching about the birth of Jesus, and I started thinking....I wonder how much Jesus weighed when he was born? I know that is silly, but after having a baby you think of these things. Chad later told me that he was thinking of the wise men. He was wondering where they came from. The Bible just says that they came from the East. I guess there are some things that we will never know.

I hope that you had a Wonderful Christmas and will have a Happy New Year!!!!

It's Beginning To Look Alot Like Christmas

Mitchell's grandparents came over the other day and brought him some gifts. One of them was an ornament that says "Mitchell's 1st Christmas 2008." I got a picture of him holding it with his Santa hat(another gift that he got). My mother-in-law and I found the ornament at the Affair of the Heart Craft Show this year. It is a bear wearing a Santa hat on the top of a cloud. It is very cute!

I tried to take a picture of him with the ornament on the tree. I was by myself, so this is the best that I could do. It does show off his two little teeth!

I took several pictures of my Christmas decorations. It is hard to get a good picture of the tree. The ornaments do not show up very good. I started decorating my tree in gold and burgundy about four years ago, and I have just stuck with those colors. I have other oranments that people have given me too.

This is a closer up view of the tree.

Here are just a few other shots that I took around the house.

I got Mitchell's stocking at Pottery Barn. I just love how it turned out.

Well, I have to go get ready for our Christmas program at church. We have a performance tonight, Saturday, and Sunday night. It has been a pretty crazy week with rehearsals and now the performances.
